No big Yagi, Delta loop, cubical quad, just a Hustler 6BTV trapped vertical. Yep, working Europe, the great northwest as well as stateside with this setup. No
tuner... 1.3:1 match on 20mtrs. Why is my vertical working so well? Lots of sunspot activity in cycle 24... knaw Tad Cook can give you the scoop on that at http://www.arrl.org. Well, I'm pushing out 5 w pep through approx. 75ft of LMR240UF coax to the 6BTV Hustler trapped vertical. This is the setup DXengineering is
marketing http://www.dxengineering.co m/ In my opinion a great price performer. Secondly, my 15 radials are for 40,30, & 20 meters
and connected to the nifty stainless steel ground plate with stainless bolts and nuts. The odd thing about my setup that maybe giving me these great results is my antenna is mounted at the
property line. So my radials are distributed around 180 degrees around the vertical. I might be getting some directivity to the NNW & NNE. Whatever is actually happening I'm
very pleased with the performance. The antenna has been up for over 3 years and works best 10-40 mtrs. I have the 80 loading coil on it, but the acceptable SWR equates to about 50khz.
