FCC2 board... And I used my good eye... Hot news -- Worked Alex in Scotland with 5 watts pep and a vertical, batteries and solar cells...56! Fired up the
IC751a for sig comparison -- 2 S units better running 100 watts. Sound fun.... It is.. Work that mega station and get a 59 and tell the operator you are running 5 watts pep out! Below is just
a sample of my log entries since 6/15/08. And we are at the bottom of the sun spot cycle? I have worked many states SSB, 5w pep on 20 meters (14 mhz). AK, NY, CA, CO,OH, VA, MD, MI, WI, MS, ND, NJ, IA,OR, AZ
,WA, western Canada on multiple occasions, and Scotland. I know there are QRPp milliwatt stations having great success. I like that too... But, for more frequent contacts try Qrp 5 watt SSB
on for size. Hope I have sparked your interest! Soon I will adapt the BitX20a
for PSK31 for even more fun. My Laptop will run on portable power too! |
